Planning your Boquete stay from Alto Boquete
Boquete is best enjoyed slowly: cool mornings, highland coffee, trails and waterfalls. This short guide helps you choose your cabin and plan a few days from Las Cabañas del Francés, on Via Caldera in Alto Boquete.

Family cabin or signature cabin?
The six family cabins sleep up to 4 guests, with a king-size bed and two single beds in the mezzanine — a good fit for families or a small group of friends. The signature cabin is designed for two, with a queen-size bed, a living room with TV and an open kitchen — a more intimate choice for couples. Every cabin has a private bathroom with hot water, air conditioning, WiFi and TV.
Cooking on site and enjoying the pool
Each cabin has its own equipped kitchen: handy for breakfast before a hike or a simple dinner when you get back. The outdoor pool and barbecue area are shared by guests of the cabins, and are nice spots to unwind at the end of the day. It is worth picking up some groceries in Boquete or David before you arrive.
Why stay in Alto Boquete
Alto Boquete is quieter than downtown while staying close: allow about 12 minutes by car to downtown Boquete and about 25 minutes to David, depending on traffic. The entrance is on Via Caldera, about 1 km from the Alto Boquete police station, with free parking on site.
A sample 2–3 day stay
- Day 1 — Arrive and unwind: settle into your cabin, take a swim, then a barbecue in the evening facing the canyon.
- Day 2 — Coffee and waterfalls: visit a coffee farm in the morning, then walk to waterfalls such as Bajo Mono or The Lost Waterfall.
- Day 3 — At your own pace: the Los Quetzales trail for hikers, the Caldera hot springs to relax, or simply a quiet day by the pool.
This plan is only a suggestion: adapt it to the weather, your fitness and opening hours, which are best confirmed locally.
Getting around
A car is the most convenient way to explore the region at your own pace; ask locally about taxis and local transport. To prepare hikes and waterfall visits, Panama's tourism authority publishes a page dedicated to Boquete.
